NEIGHBORHOOD COUCIL, certification:
A version of this city press release, moved on the wires by City News Service, was run by the Daily News on the 11th. They had no story of their own.
LOS ANGELES - Mayor Jim Hahn today announced that three additional neighborhood councils-- Encino Neighborhood Council (#49), Reseda Neighborhood Council (#50) and Bel Air-Beverly Crest Neighborhood Council-- have been certified.

"It's appropriate that the Reseda Neighborhood Council had the honor of being the historic 50th Neighborhood Council to be certified," said Mayor Hahn. "They have been a true grass-roots effort from the beginning."

Mayor Hahn also recognized the Bel Air-Beverly Crest Neighborhood Council for unifying the community. "This neighborhood council is unique in a different way," said Mayor Hahn. "They have brought together a coalition of many long-established small neighborhood groups from the hillside and canyons who were anxious to join the neighborhood council system."

General Manager of the Department of Neighborhood Empowerment Greg Nelson commended the efforts and dedication of Encino neighborhood leaders. "The Encino Neighborhood Council a shining example of a neighborhood council that has been in existence for quite a while, but was so eager to become a part of the city wide system, that they modified their structure and earned certification," said Nelson.
